Gorgeous vintage earrings made of carved slices of marbled bakelite. These are translucent so light shines thru changing the coloring which is butterscotch and brown swirled creating a bright rusty tortoise shell look. These appear to be hand carved which is typical of older bakelite jewelry, fitted with gold tone screw-backs.
Condition is excellent, the metal backs show very mild wear. Simi-chrome tested.

Bakelite was one of the first plastics made from synthetic components, very popular in the late 30s and 40s. End of the day bakelite was created using remnant color batches from the day which were then swirled together (hence the marbling) creating unique one of a kind items.
