This is a thick, chunky bangle style bracelet made of vintage brown and amber bakelite. Fabulous end of the day marbled coloring gives this the look of tortoise shell. The translucent marbling allows this to change color depending on the lighting - reddish brown with spikes of amber - just amazing!

Bakelite was one of the first plastics made from synthetic components, very popular in the late 30s and 40s. End of the day bakelite was created using remnant color batches from the day which were then swirled together (hence the marbling) creating unique one of a kind items.
